Nation in the Dark: Iranians Endure Nearly 1,000 Hours Without Internet
Amnesty International April 10, 2026
1000 hours of not being able to contact your family. 1000 hours without news from the outside world.
1000 hours without access to essential information. 90 million people in Iran have now lived under digital darkness for 1000 hours.
Iranian authorities have cut off Iranians from the outside world since 28 February, preventing people from accessing essential information and contacting loved ones. Internet shutdowns are a human rights issue.
Authorities must immediately restore internet access.
