Iran Carries Out A Public Execution in Larestan
Iran HRM Tuesday, August 19, 2025
Iranian authorities on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, publicly executed Sajjad Molaei Hakani in the town of Beyram, Larestan, Fars Province.
This was the sixth public execution in Iran in 2025. Semi-official Iranian media outlets, including Tabnak, published videos of the execution online, making the footage easily accessible to children.
Molaei Hakani had been convicted of murdering four members of a family during a robbery.
Iran Human Rights Monitor (Iran HRM) condemns the execution, stressing that public hangings are a grave violation of human dignity, a form of collective torture, and inflict long-term trauma on children and society. Iran HRM urges the international community to strongly denounce this inhumane practice.
